New green fuel network for county
Motorists in Shropshire are to be among the first in the UK to benefit from a dedicated network of independent petrol stations selling bio diesel.

Bio diesel is a renewable fuel made from oil seed rape or vegetable oil.

Under the new pilot diesel users will be able to fill-up with B5 Bio diesel at seven forecourts across the county.

Energy West Midlands, which is behind the scheme, said it would make it easier for motorists to do their bit to help reduce harmful CO2 emissions.

Marches Energy Agency, the Shropshire-based charity promoting renewable energy, and Garage Watch, a trade association for independent petrol sellers, are also involved.

'Life-changing'

The new network includes Four Crosses Filling Station, in Bicton, The Bridge Filling Station, in Oswestry, The Garage, in Leintwardine, The Mount Local Service Station, the Mount, and Sutton Farm Filling Station, in Shrewsbury.

Wem Motors in Wem and Highley Garage, near Bridgnorth are also due to join next month.

"Helping to fight climate change and supporting the growth of renewable fuels does not always have to mean making life-changing decisions," said Adrian Smith, director of Energy West Midlands.

"Because B5 is suitable for all diesel engines and is available at a growing number of forecourts, it is now easier for Shropshire drivers to fill-up and 'do their bit' to help reduce harmful CO2 emissions."
