Railway bridge damaged by lorry
Train services between Shrewsbury and Crewe could be disrupted for several days after a lorry crashed into a railway bridge in Shropshire.

The lorry which was carrying a JCB excavator struck the bridge in Station Road, Whitchurch, on Tuesday morning causing the JCB to fall into the road.

No-one was hurt but the road was closed and the bridge was extensively damaged.

The line has also been closed while the damage is assessed. Network Rail say it may remain shut for several days.

Long distance train services have been diverted via Wrexham and Chester while a shuttle bus service has been put on for local journeys.

Service operator Arriva Trains Wales are telling passengers to expect delays of at least 30 minutes.
