A roadshow will visit towns across Shropshire urging parents to help reduce the tonnes of disposable nappies that clog up landfill sites.
Shropshire Real Nappy Network is urging parents to use cotton nappies, claiming 6,000 tonnes of disposable nappies end up in county landfill sites each year.
Parents will be given information about real cotton nappies along with a free trial kit.
A spokeswoman said by using cotton nappies parents could save £500.
'Save money'
Coordinator Karen Jenkins said: "From birth to potty the disposable nappies used by the average baby will fill 16 wheelie bins.
"Each nappy could take 200 to 500 years to decompose fully.
"By using real cotton nappies, parents can reduce waste and save around £500 on the cost of nappies for one baby and more if they use them again on another baby."
The roadshow will start off in Wem on Tuesday then Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Oswestry, Bridgnorth and Telford.
