Six large Koi carp worth about £2,000 have been stolen from a private pond in Shrewsbury.
The theft, thought to be to order, happened in the Dunbar area of the town between 0800 BST on Monday and 0700 BST on Wednesday.
Another 200 smaller fish, worth about £300 each, were found floating on the surface of the pond by the owner.
He discovered the theft on Wednesday but protective metal netting over the pond had not been removed.
Police said the stolen Koi were about 10 years old and kept in the pond in the owner's home.
They have appealed for witnesses or anyone offered large Koi carp for sale in dubious circumstances to contact them.
