Super bug isolation ward assessed
Princess Royal Hospital, Telford
An old ward would be converted at the hospital
Telford's primary care trust is to meet to look at ways of funding a new isolation ward to combat super bugs at the town's Princess Royal Hospital.

Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamose (ESBL), which is a highly-resistant strain of e-coli, has affected people in hospitals in Shropshire.

But it has not been proved if the bug has caused any deaths.

A committee will meet on Tuesday to discuss plans to isolate patients who may have contracted a super bug.

An old ward would be converted at the hospital, which has most of the equipment for a specialist unit, but the committee is also assessing the cost of bringing in staff.
