A student who took part in a protest at Didcot Power Station in Oxfordshire has been found guilty of aggravated trespass.

Carl Van Tonder, 20, was among nine climate change campaigners that climbed the chimney stack in October last year.

On Thursday, a judge at Oxford Magistrates' Court gave Mr Van Tonder an 18 month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £500 in costs.

Nineteen people admitted aggravated trespass at a previous hearing.

Mr Van Tonder, from Wellington Street, Oxford, had pleaded not guilty.
