Weather affects waste collections in Oxfordshire

Three Oxfordshire councils have said the cold weather has delayed their waste and recycling collections.

Icy roads meant West Oxfordshire District Council suspended some rounds for the safety of its collection staff and residents.

The council asked residents to leave out their bins and recycling boxes.

South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse District Councils said collections were running a day late because of snow in late December.

Councillor David Harvey, member for the environment at West Oxfordshire District Council, said: "Our collection crews are working extra hours to get back on schedule, but this will remain dependent on the road conditions."
