Woman rescued from burning home

A woman was rescued from her burning home in Oxfordshire after she became unconscious.

Fire crews were called to Richmere Road, Didcot, at about 1850 GMT on Friday, and used a thermal imaging camera to find the woman downstairs.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire started in the kitchen after pans had been left unattended.

A smoke alarm alerted neighbours to the fire who then called the emergency services.

Crew manager Lee Newport, from Didcot Fire Station said: "The working smoke alarms fitted in the property most certainly saved the female occupant's life by raising the alarm with the neighbours."
