Ten people have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass as protesters continue to occupy an Oxfordshire power station. Activists climbed a chimney at Didcot Power Station in a demonstration against climate change. The protesters forced their way into the building at about 0530 GMT and vowed to remain there for "as long as possible". Nine people have climbed the steps of one of the chimneys. 'Climate Justice' A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Our priority is the health and safety for all involved in the protest, including staff at the power station, protesters and police officers at the scene. "Ten people have now been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass from the coal conveyor building. "Nine people have climbed to the top of the emissions chimney. "We have been negotiating with these protesters but at present they can not be physically moved due to their location and safety issues. "A police presence will remain on the site until the protest is over." A spokeswoman for RWE npower said power generation had not been affected and the firm was working with the police. The protesters took flags and a banner reading "Climate Justice" with them.
