Woman and pet hurt in dog attack

A woman has been taken to hospital with puncture wounds after she and her dog were attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier in Oxford.

The 29-year-old was walking her Jack Russell along Swinburne Road on Friday evening, when a dog ran out of a property and attacked her pet.

As the woman tried to pull the Staffordshire bull terrier off, she was bitten on her waist and wrist.

The Jack Russell has had surgery to his stomach.

The woman's injuries are not described as life-threatening.
