Funeral for 11-year-old cyclist

The funeral has taken place of an 11-year-old girl from Oxfordshire who died in a collision with a van as she cycled home from school.

Ty-Ree Partridge died from head injuries after the crash in Copenhagen Drive, Abingdon, on 2 July.

Her funeral was held at St Helen's Church in the town.

Ty-Ree is the second Larkmead School pupil to die in a cycling incident in Abingdon. Sarah Waterhouse, 17, died in a collision with a bus in October 2008.

Following Ty-Ree's death Oxfordshire County Council said it would explore measures to improve road safety in the area surrounding the school.

It said £35,000 had also been set aside to improve cycle routes in Abingdon.
