Pair attacked in street incidents

Two men have been attacked in separate incidents in Witney, leaving one of them unconscious.

The men, in their 20s, were assaulted on Corn Street on Sunday after attending a function with members of their football team.

The attacks took place outside the USA Fried Chicken and the Red Lion pub at 0200 BST.

Police said the incidents may be linked, and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

One of the men was seriously hurt, but the other received only minor injuries.

PC Andy Ball, investigating the assaults, said: "Police were alerted to the incident by CCTV operators, but once we arrived at the scene the attackers had gone.

"We are going over the CCTV footage now, but would still like to hear from anyone that witnessed the assaults."
