Student confirmed with swine flu

A postgraduate student at the University of Oxford has been diagnosed with swine flu.

Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) confirmed a man had tested positive for the H1N1 influenza virus on Wednesday.

It said he had recently returned from the US where he contracted the virus and began feeling unwell.

The PCT said he had been treated with Tamiflu and was responding well. There have been eight other confirmed cases of swine flu in Oxfordshire to date.
