Second cash robbery at bookmakers

Police are calling for information after an armed robbery at a bookmakers in Oxford.

A man demanded cash at Betfred in Headington on Monday evening before escaping on a bicycle.

The man had his face covered and held what appeared to be a gun in a plastic bag. Police believe a three figure sum was stolen.

Detectives are not linking it to recent armed robberies in Oxford and South Oxfordshire.

"We are investigating whether this robbery is linked to a similar incident that occurred at the same bookmakers last week," said Det Sgt Kevin Parsons of Oxford CID.

On 23 December, a man jumped over the counter and stole money from the tills before escaping on a green bicycle. No weapon was used.
