Woman sentenced for £43,000 claim

An Oxfordshire woman has been given a 40-week suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to fraudulently obtaining benefits worth £43,000.

Elizabeth Horton, previously of Langford, near Lechdale, appeared at Oxford Crown Court.

She had pleaded guilty to falsely claiming income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit.

The sentence was suspended for two years. Horton was also told to adhere to the terms of a supervision order.
