Woman remanded over street death

Jean Heapy died after being knocked to the ground

A woman has appeared before Oxford Magistrates' Court charged in connection with the death of a pensioner outside a city centre shop.

Jean Heapy, 74, of East Hagbourne, was knocked to the ground in Queen Street on Monday and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where she died.

Victoria Arthur, 35, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody charged with manslaughter and assault.

She is due to appear at Oxford Crown Court on 28 November.
