Timmy Mallett: Rolf Harris gives him tips on painting

He may be better known for hitting youngsters over the head with a foam hammer - but Timmy Mallett now wants to show off his artistic side.

The former children's television legend will see an exhibition of his paintings open on Saturday in Thame, Oxfordshire.

The pictures, which capture well-known local scenes, will be on display at the Hadley Gallery.

Mallett, who became a star of the Wacaday TV show, will also be making an appearance to talk about his pieces.

He said: "I've always loved art ever since I was a kid. My dad used to encourage me at every opportunity to pick up a paintbrush.

"I would take my sketchbook out and decided after a while to expand my horizons and start painting things that inspire me.

"I have been delighted with the amount of inspiration in Oxfordshire and I can't wait for people to see what I can do.

"I especially love colour in my paintings and England has fabulous seasons for colour."

Mallett says he talks to his good friend Rolf Harris every week to share hints and tips.
