A 22-year-old who died when a car collided with a group of pedestrians in Oxford will be "cherished forever", his family has said.

Jonathan Diliberto died when a car hit him on the A338 Oxford Road in East Hanney, Wantage, early on Sunday.

A Renault Clio was travelling towards Frilford when it collided with the group of seven walking along the road.

Mr Diliberto's family described him as "the best son, brother, grandson and friend anyone could wish for".

A family statement read: "He brought nothing but pleasure to our lives and those who met him.

"Jonathan's gentle, kind and laid back nature attracted lots of friends throughout his life, being always cheerful despite the setbacks life put before him.

"He will always be in our thoughts and his memories will be cherished forever, our lives will never be the same again."

The Oxford United fan was well known at the Kassam Stadium and would follow his team around the country.

He successfully trained in hairdressing whilst working with his father at the family-owned barber shop.

Police are continuing their investigation and appealed for witnesses.

An 18-year-old man also hurt in the collision is still in hospital with head and leg injuries.
