The chief executive of Oxfam has been made a Dame in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Barbara Stocking, who has led responses to humanitarian crises since 2001, will receive the honour for her services to humanitarian work.

Dame Barbara, of Oxford, said: "I know people always say this, but for me this is recognition of Oxfam's work."

Meanwhile Hugo Brunner, Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, is named a Knight of the Royal Victorian Order.

The order honours those who have personally served the Royal Family. Sir Hugo is the permanent representative of the Queen in Oxfordshire.
