A new company is to start making emission-free luxury electric cars, creating 250 jobs.

The first vehicles to be built by Liberty Electric cars, based in Oxford, will be Range Rovers costing between £95,000 and £125,000.

The firm said it had already taken orders and was looking for a manufacturing base in the south-west of England.

It said it planned to build tens of thousands of cars every year by 2012.
