Double sexual assault 'isolated'

Cuttle Brook Nature Reserve
The two 16 year olds were attacked by two men

Police investigating the rape of a girl and the sexual assault of her friend in an Oxfordshire nature reserve have said the incident was "rare and isolated".

The 16-year-old's had been with another friend in Cuttle Brook Nature Reserve in Thame on Saturday night when they were approached by two men.

The girls were then attacked by one of the men, who were aged in their 20s.

Insp Jim O'Ryan said they were "investigating every possibility to ensure we catch the offender."

He urged anyone who saw the girls with the men for about an hour before the assaults to contact them.

Gelled hair

The incidents happened at about 2130 BST.

Cuttle Brook is semi-wild countryside but is just a few minutes walk from Thame town centre.

It is owned by the town council and became a dedicated nature reserve in 1995.

One offender was described as white and 5ft 9in. He had broad shoulders and well built arms with a fat waist and had short, light brown hair, which was gelled into spikes.

The other man was white, 6ft, and slimmer than the other man with dark gelled hair.
