Crash causes major M40 tailbacks

Two people have been taken to hospital, one with serious injuries, after a pile-up on the M40 in Oxfordshire, which caused major tailbacks.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash on the southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 1a.

Long tailbacks developed because only one lane remained open.

All other lanes were expected to "reopen shortly once all vehicles involved in the collision have been recovered", a spokesperson added.
