Theft police plea to door-knocker

Detectives investigating a spate of burglaries in an Oxfordshire town say they would like to talk to a man who door-knocks in the area.

Police said witnesses have seen a man with ginger hair door-knocking in Faringdon at about the same time.

The most recent crime was in Elm Road, when a burglar stole jewellery before fleeing out the back door on 30 April.

Det Con Chris Leech said: "I am keen to speak to this man as I feel that he could help me with my investigation."

He added witnesses may also have seen the burglar or burglars fleeing the homes that had been targeted.

"I would also suggest that as the thieves are stealing small items like jewellery and money, there is a chance that they have no access to a vehicle," he added.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact me."

He warned residents to keep their homes secure.
