Two dead in rural road collision

Two men have died and another has been injured in a crash in Oxfordshire.

The three were travelling in a Rover 214 when it left the B4450, between Churchill and Chipping Norton, and hit a tree on Thursday evening.

The 28-year-old driver, from Witney, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 23-year-old, also from the Witney area, was thrown from the car and also died.

A man in his 20s, of Chipping Norton, was also thrown from the car and is in hospital in a "serious" condition.

The road was closed for several hours, reopening at about 0100 BST.

Police are appealing for information.

Pc Roger Marshall, of Bicester roads policing unit, said: "I am appealing to anyone who saw a blue Rover 214 travelling in the vicinity of Churchill or Chipping Norton area around the time in question, or anyone who witnessed the collision, to contact me as soon as possible."
