Woman charged in canal death case

A 22-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the murder of a man found collapsed on his canal boat.

Maurice Batts, 64, died 10 days after he was discovered off Southam Road in Banbury, Oxfordshire, last September.

Tammey Crain, of Springfield Avenue, Banbury, was charged with assisting an offender and bailed to appear at the town's magistrates court on 25 April.

James Crane, 53, of Springfield Avenue, Banbury, was charged with murder on 24 February and remanded in custody.

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Batts' death was caused by a "blunt trauma".
