Sir Roger to start one-mile race
Roger Bannister
The race will commemorate the first sub-four-minute mile
Sir Roger Bannister will be starting a one-mile street race through the centre of Oxford as part of a weekend of celebrations in the city.

The race, commemorating Sir Roger running a mile in less than four minutes on 6 May 1954, is being held at this weekend's Big Ox festival.

The event will also see the traditional Lord Mayor's Parade, a 'Street Olympix' and a dance and music festival.

The Big Ox is part of Oxfordshire 2007, a year long celebration of the county.

The Lord Mayor's Parade will start on Saturday at 1100 BST in Keble Road and will see floats, an open-top bus and marching bands weave their way through the city.
