Warning over park-and-ride strike
Car park
The council employs 12 security staff at three park-and-ride sites
Drivers in Oxford are being warned to expect disruption this week as park-and-ride attendants go on strike.

Security staff are striking at the city council-run sites at Pear Tree, Redbridge and Seacourt on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for two weeks.

The staff claim the introduction of lone-working threatens their safety.

Oxford City Council said there will be disruption at the three car parks and people may have to catch the bus outside the park-and-ride site.

A union representative said that lone-working was putting staff and customers at risk and the scheme was just about cutting costs.

But the council said the 12 staff had been "fully consulted" and were involved during the risk assessment process before any plans were drawn up for the scheme.
