Firefighters rescue rooftop ducks
A team of Oxfordshire firefighters were despatched to rescue a duck and her 11 ducklings after they became trapped on the roof of a thatched cottage.

The Easter Monday drama was played out after a neighbour spotted that the ducklings had fallen from a nest on top of a cottage in Cumnor.

The birds had become trapped in wire netting which covered the straw roof.

Twelve firefighters from Oxford's Rewley Road Fire Station attended and the birds were safely brought down.

An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said animal rescues were part of their work and the family of ducks was left with the owners of the property.
