A woman who may hold vital information about a fatal stabbing in Oxford is being urged to come forward by police.

Enayit Khalili, 26, was found severely injured on 24 March at his home in Fiennes Road in Rose Hill. He died the following night.

The woman was seen by a number of people using a telephone kiosk near to the home of Mr Khalili.

Sightings of the woman were reported by motorists stopped in the area by police over the weekend.

Det Ch Insp Andy Boyd

The woman was seen on the corner of Fiennes Road and Ashurst Road, a short distance from Mr Khalili's home close to the time he was attacked.

Officers investigating the death stopped motorists on Friday night to ask them if they had seen anything of note in the area.

Det Ch Insp Andy Boyd said: "As a result of this, a number of people have contacted us with valuable details.

"This includes the information that a woman was making a call from this phone box, which is just yards from Enayit's house.

"We are appealing for her to come forward - even though she may not realise it, she may have seen something that could prove vital to our investigation."

Detectives investigating the murder have arrested six men, two of whom - aged 22 and 24 - were later released without charge.

The four other men questioned over Mr Khalili's death were released on bail on Wednesday.
