A new English-Polish dictionary aimed at helping Polish people get to grips with the quirks of the English language has gone on sale.
It is hoped the book, published by Oxford University Press, will help with quintessentially English phrases like "it's raining cats and dogs".
Banbury in Oxfordshire, Slough in Berkshire and Southampton are among the areas with a large Polish population.
It is estimated about 10% of people living in Banbury are now from Poland.
Vivian Marr, from Oxford University Press, said: "...Expressions like it's raining cats and dogs, have a chip on your shoulder, do you catch my drift even - those are very idiomatic expressions in English.
"But equally, there are very idiomatic expressions in Polish."
