New man takes control at RAF base

Group Captain Malcolm Brecht has taken command at RAF Brize Norton
A new man has assumed the controls of the RAF's largest operational base.

Group Captain Malcolm Brecht has been appointed station commander of RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

The experienced pilot, who joined the RAF on a cadetship in 1983, was recently working as the commander of Basrah Air Station in Iraq.

Gp Capt Brecht, who has flown the Queen, said: "I am delighted and enormously proud to be taking up the post of station commander."
