Tolkien fans set to toast author
JRR Tolkien
Fans across the world will toast the author's birthday
Fans of JRR Tolkien across the world are again being urged to raise a glass and toast the birthday of the author.

The Tolkien Society is asking fans to toast the author, who was born on 3 January, 1892, at 2100 GMT.

The toast on the 114th anniversary of his birth will be to "The Professor". Tolkien died in Oxford on 2 September 1973, aged 81.

The success of the Lord of the Rings films saw a huge rise in the membership of the society, founded in 1969.
