A new Environment Agency office is opening which aims to showcase the latest energy saving technology.
The new Red Kite House in Howbery Park, Wallingford, Oxfordshire, will be used to promote sustainable eco-friendly building says the agency.
Features include a natural ventilation system which means there is no need for air conditioning and solar panels fitted on the roof to heat the water.
The new centre will be officially opened at a ceremony on Wednesday.
Shining example
Sir John Harman, chairman for the Environment Agency, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to incorporate such an array of innovative energy saving technologies and design techniques that will really reduce this buildings impact on the environment.
"Red Kite House provides a shining example of what can be done and will pave the way for future sustainable development."
The building is expected to produce 25% less carbon dioxide than current eco-friendly offices and will even collect rainwater saving up to 40% of the building's demands on water.
