New road scheme put before locals

Cogges Link is planned to connect Witan Way to the B4022
One of Oxfordshire's largest new road building projects which aims to cut congestion in the centre of Witney is under consultation.

Residents are being asked to comment on plans for an inner ring road, designed to take away up to a third of traffic from the Bridge Street bottleneck.

The road would be built on an embankment over the Windrush marshes, changing the landscape significantly.

People can have their say on the plans at the Corn Exchange until 27 November.

Find out more and discuss the scheme
David Robertson

Oxfordshire councillor David Robertson said: "Cogges Link is still the best way to reduce the congestion on Bridge Street, but, as with any road scheme, as well as benefits there will also be negative impacts.

"We have sought to minimise these impacts on the environment and local residents through various measures in the design.

"The exhibition offers people an excellent opportunity to find out more and discuss the scheme with those who have been working on it.

"I hope that people will be able to come away from the exhibition feeling they can make an informed decision about the proposals."
