New 30 and 40mph zones kill speed

Oxfordshire County Council will impose 30mph and 40mph limits
New 30mph and 40mph speed limits will be introduced to a number of roads in Oxfordshire in a bid to cut the number of people killed in accidents.

The county council says it will ensure the new speed zones are "consistently" applied across the county.

In line with government guidelines, villages will see the 30mph limit imposed but each case will be assessed individually, a council spokesman said.

Councillors agreed to introduce the new zones at a meeting on Tuesday.
