Nottingham digital date announced

A date has been set for the digital television switchover in the Nottingham area.

Analogue channels will disappear from the Nottingham transmitter from 30 March to 13 April, 2011.

Householders will need to check that their TV has a digital viewer built in or obtain an external digital box.

Digital UK said details for the switchover of the Waltham transmitter, which covers the south of the county, will be given out at a later date.

Peter Monteith, Digital UK's regional manager for the Central region, said: "We're preparing for the end of the analogue TV era and the dawn of a fully digital age in which everyone can enjoy extra choice and easier recording.

"Digital UK and the Switchover Help Scheme will ensure people know about this important change, and that advice and practical support are available."

He said viewers could check whether they are affected by the switchover date by using the postcode checker at digitaluk.co.uk or by contacting 08456 50 50 50.
