Commuters 'happier' with rail service in East Midlands

Managers at East Midlands Trains said a £75m investment in their services had paid off after a survey showed an increase in passenger satisfaction.

A survey of passengers carried out by Passenger Focus, a public organisation to look after travellers' interests, showed an increase in satisfaction.

Refurbishment of the trains and improved stations along with greater punctuality were cited as improved.

The company began running the rail franchise in 2007.
