Man faces charge over house fire

The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday

A man has been charged with arson after a family had to be rescued from a house fire in Nottinghamshire.

Two adults, two children and a cat were lowered to safety from the property in Sixth Avenue, Forest Town, Mansfield, in the early hours of Sunday.

Simon Lee, 42, of Stone Cross Court in Mansfield, has been charged with intent to endanger life and breaching a restraining order.

He is due to appear before Mansfield magistrates on Tuesday.

The people rescued from the fire were treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.
