Crash on A1 brings traffic chaos

An accident involving four vehicles closed part of the A1 in Nottinghamshire, causing traffic problems for commuters.

The collision happened shortly after 0530 GMT on the northbound carriageway at Sutton on Trent, 10 miles (16km) north of Newark.

Police closed both lanes and traffic was diverted through nearby towns until shortly after 1500 GMT.

No-one was seriously hurt but police appealed for witnesses to come forward.
