Drinks firm Barr to close plant

A drinks company has announced is to close its plant in Nottinghamshire with the loss of 100 jobs.

AG Barr, based at Bellamy Road in Mansfield, aims to close the site early in 2011 and begin transferring some work during 2010.

The company, which makes the Irn Bru drink, is concentrating its work at its Scottish base in Cumbernauld.

Officials from the firm are beginning talks with workers in Mansfield about the planned closure.
