Pool reopens after bacteria alert

Water Meadows
The centre opened in 1990, but has been recently refurbished

A Nottinghamshire leisure centre is to reopen two weeks after Legionella bacteria was found in the water system.

Mansfield's Water Meadows swimming complex was shut after the organism was found in the showers.

Legionella, which can cause dangerous respiratory problems, is associated with standing warm water.

Officials from Mansfield District Council said it was a problem they were always aware of and prompt action had avoided any serious risk.
