Call centre struggles to recruit

A call centre in Nottingham has said it is struggling to recruit new workers.

Domestic and General in Talbot Street is looking to hire new staff to help cover one of its busiest periods in the run up to Christmas and New Year.

The company has advertised in job centres, local newspapers and online but said it was not getting enough applicants.

A spokeswoman for Domestic and General said the firm was looking for 150 workers to fill the short-term posts.

Domestic and General provides breakdown protection for domestic appliances, electronic equipment and gas central heating systems.

The centre in Nottingham handles calls for the registration of new appliances and provides technical advice on household equipment.

Spokeswoman Keri McGahon said people who had not worked in call centres before could apply.
