Station's £20m revamp completed

The £20m makeover of Derby station has been officially unveiled after taking 18 months to complete.

Improvements include rebuilding platform canopies, widening the stairs and installing lifts to ensure step-free access to all platforms.

New waiting rooms, toilets and staff areas were also introduced.

Network Rail started on the scheme in early 2008 and worked closely with East Midlands Trains to ensure disruption to passengers was kept to minimum.
