Paedophile is jailed for 17 years

A paedophile who abused two young girls in Nottinghamshire has been jailed for 17 years.

Dennis Brewin, 33, formerly of Leivers Road, Arnold, was found guilty of three rapes, two sexual assaults and indecent exposure at Nottingham Crown Court.

At his trial earlier this year Brewin insisted his victims, aged six and eight at the time, made up the claims.

Brewin was placed on the sex offenders' register for life and banned from any contact with youngsters.

He was also convicted of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, indecency with a child and causing a child to engage in sexual activity, but cleared of two further charges of rape.

Sentencing Brewin at Lincoln Crown Court, Judge Michael Heath said it was impossible to imagine the psychological effects the abuse, carried out between 2001 and 2008, would have on his young victims.

He added that Brewin's claims that the girls made it up were "nonsense".
