Child rapist jailed indefinitely

A pensioner has been jailed indefinitely for raping and sexually assaulting three children in Nottinghamshire.

Robert Park, 66, of Hallcroft Road, Retford, pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court to 14 offences relating to sexual assaults on children.

He will serve a minimum of eight years in prison and sign the sex offenders' register for an indefinite term.

Police said the case had been particularly difficult for the victims.

Det Con Louise Gowan, of Nottinghamshire Police Child Abuse Unit, said: "This has been one of the most traumatic cases I have ever investigated and I would like to praise the victims and their families for their strength and courage over the last few months.

"Today's sentencing should now bring them closure and I hope they can now begin to move forward and rebuild their lives."
