Cyclist killed in road accident

A 14-year-old cyclist has died in hospital following a collision with a car in Nottinghamshire.

The accident happened as the boy was cycling along Valley Drive in Newthorpe Village and his bike collided with a Peugeot at about 1210 BST on Sunday.

He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious head injuries where he died on Monday night, police said.

The driver and passenger of the car were shaken but unhurt.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
