Arson attack closes health centre

Ollerton Health Centre
Police have described the attack as "deliberate and thoughtless"

A fire which broke out at a Nottinghamshire health clinic is being treated as suspicious.

The emergency services were called to the Ollerton Health Clinic, on Church Circle in New Ollerton, at about 1000 BST on Sunday.

Police said the fire caused extensive damage and that a criminal investigation was taking place.

The centre, which treats about 150 patients a week, will remain closed for two weeks, health bosses said.

It is estimated that the damage will cost about £30,000 to put right.

Pc Colin Oakley said: "This was a deliberate and thoughtless attack which has caused severe damage and disruption to a facility which is there to serve our community."

Eleri de Gilbert, Nottinghamshire Community Health's managing director, said: "We are working to keep the disruption to patient services to a minimum and clinics have been relocated to other sites.

"We are recommending that any patient with an appointment at the centre in the coming few weeks should contact their clinician directly in the first instance."
