Indecent material sent to girls

Police are investigating after indecent material was sent to girls at a Nottinghamshire high school via the internet.

Seven pupils at the West Bridgford School were sent messages and pictures at home from a social networking site.

They have been interviewed by police with a parent present.

The school's head teacher Rob McDonough said he was relieved that the pupils had been taught about internet safety and felt confident to report it.

He said: "I'm absolutely delighted that our girls recognised the dangers of what was involved and what they were potentially being drawn into and we've obviously done a lot of work in school, in talking to our children through assemblies and lessons.

"So they did spot this and I was delighted that they came into school and reported this."

A woman police officer interviewed the girls at the school in front of one of their parents who chose to be present.
