Skate Plaza plans go on display

Plans for a new skate park in a Nottinghamshire town are going on show to residents.

The Skate Plaza is set to open in Fisher Lane Park, off Rock Hill, in Mansfield later in the year.

Drawings and information about the construction of the development will be on show at the park on Thursday.

The Plaza project, which was devised by a group of local young skateboarders, received £50,000 of Big Lottery Fund money last month.

Councillor Eddie Smith, portfolio holder for the environment at Mansfield District Council, said: "I'm delighted to see that the new Skate Plaza at Fisher Lane Park is the first of its kind in the area and will provide new recreation opportunities for young people.

"I'm delighted with the involvement of these youngsters and their enthusiasm for the project."
