The rail company says talks are ongoing with the union Aslef

East Midlands Trains has said a normal train service is due to operate on Sunday following weeks of disruption to its weekend timetable. Recently, drivers have refused to work voluntary shifts on Sundays in a dispute over pay. But the rail company secured a High Court injunction which prevented the union Aslef from encouraging drivers to take unofficial industrial action. Last weekend a "near-normal" service operated on its key routes. 'Ongoing issues' More than 60% of regional services operated and a replacement bus service was implemented, the rail company said. Tim Shoveller, managing director of East Midlands Trains said: "Over the past few weeks, we have worked closely with the Aslef union and our drivers directly to try and resolve the issue around Sunday working and to avoid ongoing inconvenience for our passengers. "We're very pleased that a significant number of drivers have made themselves available for work this coming Sunday, meaning that we are able to restore a full and normal service for our passengers. "We are therefore continuing to meet Aslef to try and resolve the ongoing issues and ensure that any further disruption is avoided."
